Sonogram Report

Here's Junior's first report card. No, that's not 813 packs of cigarettes smoked a day (it's the date). It shows Junior's age at 16 +3 (16 weeks, 3 days). The second section tells you junior has no siblings (yet), has his head pointing down and arms and legs pointing to Mom's left side (see diagram). The diagrams on the right side show the front, side, and top view to give you a real 3-d sense of where Junior like to hang out (closer to the belly button than the spine). The third section tells about all the body parts Junior's been building. The doctor assured us that a missing circle only means he didn't check. The right part of the third section tells the "FEM" or femur (leg bone) is a whopping 2.1 cm long and that corresponds to a 16 week, 1 day old fetus. The Trunk measured 11.1 cm (4.4 inches) and that corresponds to a 17 week old fetus (I thought they said there was only one of them).

The final measurements tell skull and trunk circumference that all indicate we are somewhere in the 16th week. The chicken scratch at the bottom says something like: "Measurements L/W date. No malformations identified. To proceed to amniocentesis. A low lying placenta is seen. A rescan in the 3rd trimester is recommended."
